As the plane was leaving the runway, all I felt was relief. Starting the 2nd leg of our 36 hour journey helped me realize it was really true… AFRICA HERE WE COME. The stress of this past week, knowing I could only bring 44 lbs TOTAL of baggage, made packing very challenging for this lady. And yelp, you guessed it… I’m 10 pounds overweight… and so is Tommie 😜. Hoping the M&Ms, nuts and breakfast bars will be gone by the time we weigh in for the “bush” planes 3 days from now …so they will let us board. I must say…Qatar Airlines rocks!!! Everything is pristine clean, food delicious and service outstanding…with the most modern equipment I’ve ever seen… including a smartphone that controls the entertainment center. Well, time to go put on the pjs they provide…only 10 hrs left of this 15 hour flight to Doha, Qatar. 🕌. Then 8 hour layover 🤪 and another 8 hr flight to Johannesburg. Nobody ever said traveling to Africa was fast.
