Iguacu Falls, Brazil

Today we arrived at a destination I added to my bucket list 20 years ago… Iguacu National Park….considered one of the natural wonders of the world because of its breathtaking waterfalls. This point on the South American continent is where Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay meet. As we entered the park, a curtain of yellow butterflies escorted us to the pink Belmond Hotel das Cataratas , the only hotel inside the park. Our room and balcony has a view of the Falls. The noise from the Falls is stimulating, yet soothing; and the shear beauty and overwhelming power the falling water generates is mind boggling. If you’ve ever seen Niagara Falls (which is extremely commercial in comparison to this remote jungle location) you can multiply the surface area of falls by at least 3 times. I’ve been blessed to see many many exquisite works of Nature in my travels… But these waterfalls easily jump near the top and their beauty leaves me in tears. I’m excited to take a riverboat ride tomorrow to get a closer view.

I believe traveling is the best classroom there is—no homework, no exams, just really good stories.
