Leaving Bolivia…moving on to Cusco, Peru

I’ve visited a lot of countries in my lifetime, but never been thru such close scrutiny as Bolivia, both arriving and leaving. The paperwork is non ending and don’t even get me started about the multiple checkpoints. You feel trapped trying to leave. And when you’re finally walking down the COLD jetway, feeling like a free bird and the airplane door is 25 feet in front of you…2 army dressed guys stop everyone and say put your bags on right side of walkway and stand on left side. Everyone looks surprised. Well sure enough, a few minutes (after freezing our butts off in the jetway) here comes a drug dog and he sniffs everyone’s carryon bags. Then FINALLY you have your ticket to freedom and can board the plane.

Bye bye Bolivia. Imagine if we had this kind of security in the USA….would we all be safer? It would DEFINITELY cut down our tourist volume 😜

I believe traveling is the best classroom there is—no homework, no exams, just really good stories.
